Staying Active in Cold Months
This is the first blog post I've ever done so here it goes. My first topic is going to be about.... staying active during our upcoming break. With the weather getting bad being active may become harder or less motivating to do. During these months it is still important to be active every day. Physical activity releases endorphins in your brain that help with your mood like reducing stress and warding off feelings of depression; which might happen when you're experiencing constant bad weather instead of sunshine. So stay active by going to the gym, swimming indoors, playing basketball at your local YMCA; or go outdoors and ski, snowboard, sled ride, have a snowball fight! Also make sure to take in extra vitamin D since you won't be getting it from being outside in the sun!

I agree staying active during the winter and "yucky" months can be very difficult. I always want to drive to the the gym, but sometimes the weather is just too bad to drive in. Some days I just search workouts on Pinterest and do an "in home" ab, arm, or leg workout. I really feel the burn after doing them, but they aren't always the most exciting. Playing in the snow, skiing, and snowboarding is a lot of fun and a great workout. I love chasing my dog around in the snow too. Unfortunately, where I'm from we don't always get a lot of snow, but I try to make the most out of what we get.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to go snowboarding this winter! This is my favorite winter activity, and its upsetting when summer rolls around. Physical activity is GREAT for you, as we all know. By doing something someone loves to do and it involves physical activity, you are killing 2 birds with one stone :) I will make sure to take more vitamin D this year so that I don't get sick. Thanks for the tid-bit of information!
